With over 18 months invested in design and using a revolutionary building technique called FiberFusion™ the Katana MD from Precision Aerobatics has broken the mold and moved once again the level of perfection a notch higher.
FiberFusion: is a method of combining carbon fiber, balsa and ply in a way never seen before. Utilizing the strengths of the fibers within each raw material. The end result is a lighter, stronger, more rigid aircraft that fly like nothing else.
The Katana MD (for medium) is built using the finest grade materials, all cut by state-of-the-art laser and CNC machines. The wings are removable using a carbon wing tube and carbon sleeve which make the Katana MD a compact, durable, and easily transportable model.
The aileron design and construction in this model is exceptional is made in such a way that the hinge gap is completely sealed. This is quite complex to produce as the ailerons fit "into" the wing trailing edge tunnels and are glued and aligned in the factory. The production of the ailerons in this way, allows perfect aerodynamic flow over the airfoil and results in maximum efficiency of the control surfaces.
The new MD is a free-style machine designed for intermediates and professional pilots. If you want to practice your IMAC sequence the Katana MD will shine - its flight characteristics are very similar to a giant scale. And if you want to practice your 3D maneuvers - simply slide the battery aft on the carbon fiber battery tray to the recommended CG and put a big smile on your face.
So how does it fly? Solid elevators, push full down elevator in inverted flight and you can take a nap. Stunning knife edges and due to its super-light weight and exceptionally low wing loading this plane is a serious floater. Harriers and elevators with a few clicks of throttle are hands off.
